Prayer is a relationship with God. All healthy relationships require contact and honest communication. Find a regular time and place for prayer. Choose a specific time - or times - that you know you will be able to keep. Good communication involves talking…but also listening. Learn to be still, to sit quietly, and learn to listen with our hearts - to allow God to speak too.

Try different forms of prayer. You might like to pray
  • with the scriptures of each day
  • with the psalms
  • the liturgy of the hours
  • lectio divina, a meditative prayer form that involves various approaches to lingering with a passage
  • Eucharistic adoration
  • using the Centering prayer method
  • with music
Pay attention to what is taking place within you as you pray:
  • How do you feel?
  • What emotions are you experiencing as you pray?
  • What thoughts are coming into your consciousness?
  • What is your body telling you?
  • What do you truly desire?
  • What is your honest reaction when you think about being a Religious Sister?
  • What feelings are you aware of when you think about choosing a celibate lifestyle? …when you think about living in community?
