As Mother Felicitas Bradley, of Charlotte Street fame, was celebrating the seventieth anniversary of her profession here in Scotland, a very youthful Sister Francisca Kimetto was making her First Profession in Kenya.

The celebration was a very joyous one, full of music and dancing and the Mass was celebrated outdoors. The celebrant was a priest from the local seminary and his homily will long be remembered for its closing comment – that all Sisters belong in one of four categories: the re-tired (i.e. tired twice); the tired; the tireless; and the tiresome! The moral was well taken!

Another profession in our minds at the moment is that of Sister M. Pius McLaughlin who will be celebrating her fiftieth anniversary on Saturday 2nd May, in the parish where she works – St. Joseph’s, Greenock.

An FP of Charlotte Street and a native of Glasgow, Pius has taught in England, Ardrossan, and Glasgow and in fact retired from Notre Dame Primary here in Glasgow.

She now works as a Parish Assistant in Greenock

Three of our young African Sisters who have been studying here in Scotland will soon be heading for home. Sister Stella is in the final stages of her honours degree in IT studies; Sister Consolata is completing a post-grad theology course in Scotus College; and Sister Faith is coming to the end of her community experience year. While they have been here with us, all three Sisters have been helping to care for our old Sisters and have done that with great skill and compassion. They will be very much missed when they head back to Nigeria and Kenya in the summer.
